Absolute Poker Rating

Unfortunately, weak poker players aren’t abundant at Absolute Poker. For some reason, everybody seems to play just a little bit tighter than you’d like. You can find some games with flop percentages of 60% or 70%, but the majority seems to be between 40% and 50%. Absolute Poker isn’t as aggressive in their advertising, and that may be what contributes to their lack of fish. That’s not to say that there are no bad players at this site, but they aren’t as plentiful as one would like. So long as you watch out for the really big sharks, you should be okay to play here.

Game Selection

Absolute Poker just offers the standard game selection: Texas Holdem, Omaha Holdem, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. Nothing too special, but that’s not much of a detriment since these are the games where most of the money’s at. As with most poker rooms, Texas Holdem is by far the most popular, with Omaha Hi/Lo coming in second. The other games aren’t very populated, though you can probably manage to find something in their peak hours. You wouldn’t be able to find many games at an odd hour here, and you definitely would have a hard time finding a profitable table in something other than peak hours.

Promotions

This is by far the best factor of Absolute Poker. First of all, they offer a phenomenal first time deposit bonus of 150% up to $150. There are bigger bonuses from other rooms, admittedly, but Absolute Poker knows how to treat its players well. They’re always offering re-deposit bonuses, and some of them can get as big as 200% up to $200. They also have numerous daily freerolls and jackpots. Absolute Poker does a terrific job of giving their players incentive to keep playing.

Software

Absolute Poker offers some very nice software. While it can be a little slow at times, it’s got some fun features to it that can keep you amused as well as being very solid. For example, they have a “snack bar” option, where you choose what type of snack or drink you have on the small table beside you. In addition, they let you use multi-colored decks and upload your own image to use as an avatar. They also have an option where you can view a replay of the last hand, which is handy if you’re playing multiple tables and you happen to miss it. The software is very simple to use, and it gives great statistics for all the tables so you’ll have no trouble finding a great moneymaker.

Tournaments

Absolute Poker offers a nice variety of tournaments. They have multiple smaller tournaments with low entry fees, but the real attraction is the medium to large satellites. The reason for this is that there is usually only a handful of entries for these tournaments, so your odds of winning are greatly increased. They also run lots of neat tournaments for the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, which is pretty neat. They also offer multiple daily freerolls, which are hugely popular, though I wouldn’t necessarily suggest them. The prize money is only $50, and there are always 2,000 players competing in them. Nevertheless, Absolute Poker does a very good job with their tournaments.

Customer Service

Like most other online poker rooms, Absolute Poker has no phone support. That’s not so bad by itself, but their email support is rather poor as well. They seem to have lots of issues with their mail server, so sometimes your email won’t even reach them. Even when it does, though, they don’t respond very well. Their depositing is great, though their withdrawing can take some time. Overall their support isn’t too bad, but it’s not that great either.
